Contrast, I think would be the best word to describe Bangkok. A city with hundreds of sacred temples. Wats, as the locals call them. Breathtakingly beautiful and serene, Intricate patterns of gold, and clean white marble floors dress its facades. Inside are different images of Buddha, each with their own meaning and significance.
If Nirvana was a place, It would look like this.
But the story is different outside these walls, The air thick with a mixture of Thai chillies and cannabis. Neon lights fill red-light districts, night markets buzzing till dawn, Muay Thai stadiums packed with roaring crowds — and, of course...traffic.
Everything slows down—the pace, the air, even the way people move. Locals go about their day unbothered, the streets are quiet, and the air feels fresher. Chiang Mai is warm and cozy—like a well-earned retreat from the beautiful chaos that is Bangkok.
